In case any of you deal with pepsigalore, I thought I'd pass this thread along as a word of warning. I figure many of you would have seen this over on the Acaeum, but not necessarily everyone:

I don't visit the Acaeum unless I need a laxative. What's the short version of the story?

Short version:

Back in June, I bought a 2nd woody with a True 1st GH in it, with the $1.75 dice price NOT crossed out for $1508. Seller described as books complete, with no writing on the pages. But, what I received was:

It turns out the that the rules and supplements are well-annotated in pencil and pen, in particular the first GH, but also including the reference sheets, all of the core three rulebooks, and Chainmail. BM's actually clean, except for the page 46 dungeon map colored in with magic marker. GD&H is in excellent condition, except for the water damage warping present on the cover that smears the owner's name on the cover sheet and continues through basically to the end of the book (though getting smaller as you proceed through the book).

I've been trying to work out an amicable return with the seller, given that he clearly didn't describe the books accurately in the Q&A, but he's not willing to do that, he decided tonight. So, I'll take it to eBay/Paypal/my credit card.

What's my best approach to try to get a full refund on this set? The seller maintains that because he said the box was only in "good" condition (nearly all of the corners are blown and held together with tape), and that the books were "used" that it doesn't matter that his descriptions were inaccurate. More specifically that:

pepsigalore in Q&A on the auction with emphasis from grodog wrote:

Q: Better pictures please? What printing? Photos of the box both top and bottom with condition descriptions. What is the name written on the cover... Are there names, marks in books, box, and/or rusty staples, etc. Jun-02-09
A: 1874 second edition. Box shows wear, but all there. My name. No, no, no, & no.

The way I'm reading this, that's my linchpin, since his response of no marks in books, no marks in box, no rusty staples, no "etc." is what lead me to believe that the set was well-worn, but in good shape on the inside.

Pics uploaded to my site @ http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/temp/dispute/ if you're curious.

Boy that sucks! I'm sorry that happened Allan. I hope everything gets worked out. Don't worry about the Greyhawk, though. There will be another. There always is. As for that bad seller, thanks for the warning. I do remember sending him a question about the Greyhawk. I actually have his reply saved. I'm not really in the market for D&D anymore, the factory stuff anyway.
