Hi folks,

I've long been a fan of your archive, referring to it through Google searches whenever I needed a question answered pre-eBay purchase. I never knew you had a forum or I'd've been here long ago.

First I'll say "Thanks for your great work", and second I'd like to share my own archive project I've been working on for the past year (though I've only put up a webpage recently):

The Play Generated Map and Document Archive seeks to collect and preserve hand made game documents, mostly maps and game notes. It's my assertion that this sort of stuff is a form of folk art, and should be treated as cultural artifacts which have value both aesthetic and academic.

To that purpose, I've started the archive. Unfortunately, the target donors are hard to reach. Most folks who still play will keep their papers for understandable nostalgic reasons, and the folks who no longer care throw the stuff out without thinking anyone else might value it. It makes for a very narrow band of donors.

Regardless, I'd like to share the URL with you: www.plagmada.org

It's not nearly so useful as your archive, but I hope you get a kick out of it.

Best,

tim h

Thank you and welcome. The home-made material you're looking for does have a small fan base in our community (if we can call it that). We refer to it as 'home-brew.' I'm sure there are patrons here who can help you.

Great idea, btw. That material encapsulates a period of time. Some of the maps I've seen are works of art in themselves. Check out one of the maps for the DHSD.

That's incredible, thanks for the link. I'm going to set myself slightly to one-side and say that while "home-brew" certainly fits within my aims, I'm just as interested in maps and the like produced during game play by the players. For example, I've recently put up a series of players maps from the "Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh" campaign.

I'll add "Home-brew" to the Terminology section of my website soon. Very useful phrase, that.

edit: "very nice" was an understatement.

Hello and welcome Tim,

I like the idea of your project, so I added your URL to our link page (in the "General Other" category). You are welcome to link back to us if you wish.
