It seems that the author prepared the errata sheets when he sold the 1st copies. Errata sheets were available through postmail. Perhaps copies with the errata sheets are just standard copies for which owners asked an errata sheets to the author?

I believe that there was only ever 1 printing of this so most likely errata sheets were sent out by mail to owners of the first copies and then added to copies sold later.

The copies I acquired were direct from the author but only half of them had errata sheets.

Yes, it is what you said to me.

In the copy I received there is a small note from the author saying that if you want the errata etc. So you are right, only one print as you thought.
