I am beginning to think that at some point Dave Casciano was contacted by TSR to remove the "Dungeons & Dragons" from the cover of his book The Infernax of Spells, Necromancy and Black Magic.
The one in the archive here, my copy and now this one up for sale:
All have black marker through the "Dungeons & Dragons". I initially thought that this was just someone with time to kill filling it in but it seems like almost every copy I have seen has this characteristic.
