Scribe's Musings:

I am missing the special section LIASONS DANGEREUSES. by Lakofka. It would seem as if one page is appended to the very end of this issue as it doesn't really go along with anything else in the issue from what I can tell. shrug

I got a hoot out of John Mansfield's article WHAT DO YOU CALL THAT? During the article he takes a hard look at the differences between Strategy and Tactics (the words). He recommends....."A good way to remember the difference between the two is to think of your and your girlfriend. How you get her up to your apartment is Strategy, what you do with her there is Tactics. Laughing

ON GAME DESIGN by Mark Goldberg had a blurb about 'playbalance' in game design and game play. This is a very common mantra later seen in D&D publications from TSR. Just another connection in similarities between the methods of administering and playing wargames and its eventual younger cousin, RPGs.

The club news in this magazine deals extensively with the apparent referendum to purchase or take over Strategy and Tactics magazine by the IFW. Apparently the plan was to merge IW with S&T. Clearly it never happened and none of the articles in the magazine detail the idea to any extent. Mentioned also in club news is THE MESSENGER as being yet another zine produced by IFW for the exclusive purpose of communicating club business to administrators.
