I know we have quite a few amongst us posting from other countries. But here in the states we celebrate labor day this weekend. Traditionally, most schools would begin after labor day, so this marks the final day of summer in spirit, if not on the solstice calendar.

Anyhoo, anyone have any plans for the weekend? Personally, I would love to get away to the house and chill out. It has been a pretty rough couple of weeks with the business and I need to not work on the house if I can help it. Perhaps some gardening, grilling, and looking through IFW magazines would be an ideal weekend!

My girlfriend is taking off with her parents and some relatives from Czech Republic on a vacation tomorrow and I am heading up a bit further north for a week. My goal this weekend is to sell off about 400lbs of Palladium, White Wolf, D20, Dragon Magazines, etc. I have a deal in the works that I am hoping pans out because I don't want to have to lug the boxes up north and then back again :)

Hello there, great place, congratulations ! I hope to contribute to knowledge about RPG, especially in french...

My week end is dedicated to RPG research, mussels, and bier !

Quote:

Each year, on the first weekend of September, 2 million visitors invade the streets of Lille (the place I live) for the annual "Braderie" street fair.

Professional tradesmen set up stands on the streets and the citizens of Lille sale or exchange their unwanted possessions. They are settled on 100 km of pavements throughout Lille, selling paintings, antiques, ornaments, furniture, books, records, and junk of every description.

Part of the celebrations is eating moules-frites - mussels and chips -, with a pinte of beer. Traditionally, after eating your mussels, you leave your empty shells outside the restaurant and there is a competition to see which one amasses the biggest heap by the end of the fair.

Unfortunately I have never found any bargain in the last 3 years...

What a great Labor Day weekend. Devon and I were both layed off yesterday. Oh well, work is really good so we shouldn't be off work for more than a week.

Let's see. Did some work around the house today (mowing, trimming and masonry patch.) Planning for some face-to-face game time tonight (Castles & Crusades and I have the distinct pleasure to have Beyondthebreach in my game, yay!) My 40th B-Day is impending on Monday and my Mom's B-Day is on Tuesday so tomorrow (Sunday) we're planning a family get together and party - good food, good drinks, friends & family.

Ha! I got permission from the wife to play C&C at Simrion's house tonight! Very Happy

Actually, it's our normal game night, but Tiffany is at the end of her tether and really ready to get this baby out . . .

I think there's some sort of get together at my Mom's on Monday. But we have to show up for the C-section at 0630 Wednesday morning, so it's been mainly the final stages of getting the house and plans ready.

I probably won't be logged in too much in the coming days/weeks, but I'll let everyone know who things went next weekend.

Damn, turning 40, eh? Wish I knew. Let me see if I can get a present together to bring tonight. I wonder if you need the original Gamelords Free City of Haven?

Did some mowing at my folks today. Will mow my lawn tomorrow. Other than that I hope to put up more scans. I'm single, own my own home (without a mortgage, thank God!), and live in an area where the cows outnumber the people at least 10-1. There is NO social life. I can't wait for ski season to start. -Tom

ps. Welcome, le rahib!

What a great way to spend the weekend. I did everything as prescribed at the head of the thread and I feel much better after only a days worth of rest. Felt like i did nothing but lounge around for a week, honestly. Yesterday and today were gorgeous outside and I spent much of it outdoors. We went to a clambake Saturday evening and grilled steaks today!

(ok, i admit that I did take a half hour and disconnected the water and gas from the busted water heater. duh . That wasn't really work.)

Day two: built shelving up in the attic for extra storage space and added a couple of items to the Tome. The neighbors are working on their second day of inebriation.

Laughing

The neighbors watch you work while they lounge with smoke and drink, too? Sometimes I think I must look like television to them with all the work and movement we accomplish on weekends.

We live in a pretty nice neighborhood filled mostly with retired people. The house to the east (smoke and drink) is the only rental in the whole thing. They can hear me up there, but they can't see me. The house to the north is retired and if either of us set one toe out the door, he comes out to 'work in the yard.' If he stops you, you can write-off the next 30-45 minutes. The couple next to them are almost retired and are very nice people. Next to them is our local equivalent of Tom Anderson. They're nice people but nosey--they remarked the the other day that we had left our blinds down while staying home! To the west is another younger couple with a boy the same age as our middle daughter. They play all of the time.

When it comes to neighbors, I'm more like Ben Rumson.
